Bristol LETS on Facebook

WE NOW HAVE A FACEBOOK PAGE!

Do take a look at it: www.facebook.com/bristol.local.exchange.trading.scheme and if you are a FB user please LIKE it.

The main reason for having a Facebook page is to increase our presence and googlability on the Internet, and so attract more interest and new members.

With a Facebook 'Community' site of the sort this is, you cannot 'join' it. It is not intended for you to send Wants or Offers out from here. Please keep that within the BristolLETS.org.uk website.

But if you feel like sharing some pics, good news or thoughts about LETS on the site, feel free ;-). The more activity on the site and links to-and-from the more we will be seen. Just bear in mind that it is open to the public so please be careful with your own and other's personal details. Have fun!

Meetings Update

The Core Group Meeting Sunday 8th January 2012 mainly dealt with plans regarding Promotions, Publicity and Socials.
Members can view minutes of the meeting HERE. Date and place of next meeting to be arranged.

Overhaul of screens.

WWW.BristolLETS.org.uk HAS HAD A MAKEOVER!
You may have noticed our website looks little different. The intent is to make screens more helpful and intuitive to both current and potential new members. In particular you may notice:
  • The [Update Listings] screen has gone. Everything is now under [My Profile]. So that is now just one place to go to set all the information about yourself; (your Offers, Wants, contact details, Photograph and more).

  • The [About], [Learn More] and [How LETS Works] screens have all changed. The route through to find out what our LETS scheme is about (and how to join) should be much simpler.

  • You can now pay by PayPal. The newly renovated [How to Pay] screen with all the payment options is under the [Join Us] screens.
Please would any member who still owes their Membership Fee pay it soon. (Quick link: [How to Pay].)

  • There is a new option on the Screen Menu: [Discussions]. Over time, some of the options on [Useful Pages] will be moved over to this screen. I plan to use it to enable some general chat and discussions of important things. Do let me know if you could help - Karaline, email.

Social & Support at the Watershed

Mike Sheppard reports...

Thursday 15th November saw the first of what will be our regular monthly social and member support events. This took place in the bar of the Watershed on Bristol's Harbourside.

It was a bit of a cozy affair as we had unwittingly clashed with the opening night of the Watershed's Encounters short film event. So seven of us had to share a table in the main bar instead of in the quieter area next door. However it was a pleasant evening and it was great to see some new faces. We managed to make use of the Wi-Fi facilities to join up a new member and give help to an existing member to upload her offers to the BristolLETS website. The BristolLETS hat was a great success making us easy to spot amongst the throng.
